National Forensic Mental Health Hospital
Integrated Security Across 10 Buildings
at the National Forensic Hospital
The National Forensic Mental Health Hospital expansion included a new 130-bed adult forensic hospital across 10 buildings.
Over 1,800 individual security devices installed and commissioned across 10 buildings to full healthcare regulatory standards.
A 130-bed forensic hospital required integrated security across a 10-building campus.
The National Forensic Mental Health Hospital, located at St. Ita’s Campus in Portrane, embarked on a significant expansion project to meet the growing demand for forensic mental health services. This expansion included the construction of a new 130-bed adult forensic hospital spread across 10 buildings within the campus. Recognizing the critical need for a comprehensive security infrastructure, Electro Automation was awarded the contract to supply and commission integrated security systems for Access Control, Intruder Alarm, Automation Systems, and multiple services integration over the entire site.

The Project
The National Forensic Mental Health Hospital at St. Ita's Campus in Portrane undertook a major expansion including the construction of a new 130-bed adult forensic hospital across 10 buildings within the campus. The security infrastructure required was substantial in scale, with a dedicated security contract of approximately 3 million euros within a total build programme of approximately 160 million euros.
Electro Automation was awarded the contract to supply, install, and commission integrated security systems covering access control, intruder alarm, automation systems, and multiple services integration across the entire campus. Integrating diverse systems across multiple buildings in a highly regulated healthcare environment, combined with the scale of the installation, required meticulous planning, engineering, and project management.
