Gate Safety & Force Testing

BS EN 12453 compliant force testing for automated gates ensuring health and safety compliance

Why Electro

We don’t simply test for compliance — we test for safe, reliable real-world operation.
Our force testing service ensures automatic gates operate correctly under controlled conditions, meeting required safety standards while also identifying potential performance issues. Adjustments are made on-site where needed to optimise safety and functionality.

With experienced engineers and specialist knowledge, Electro Automation ensures your gate systems are compliant, properly calibrated, and safe for everyday use.

Service Overview

The installer of a new gate system should carry out a full risk assessment of the site where the gate is to be fitted both before and after the installation. Compliance testing to BS-EN12445 Machine Directive ensures safety in use of power operated doors and gates. This standard applies to all new automatic gates installed, and also should be carried out to any retro-fit installations on existing gates.

Electro Group follow the latest DHF guidance for gate design and installation, ensuring your gates are safe, secure and reliable in operation. We carry out comprehensive force testing to BS EN 12453 standards for both sliding and swing gates, with 27 measurement points tested three times each for accurate compliance certification.

Testing Includes

  • Compliance Testing: Full BS-EN12445 Machine Directive testing

  • Sliding Gates: 27 measurement points tested for force compliance

  • Swing Gates: Comprehensive testing at all required points

  • Risk Assessment: Full site assessment before and after installation
