The Project
St Mary's and Scoil Chriost Ri schools share a common car park as part of the PPP Project Group managed by Sodexo. The existing manual barrier at the car park entrance was not in operation, and there was no barrier in place at the exit, leaving the car park open to unauthorised vehicle access throughout the school day and outside school hours.
Sodexo selected Electro Automation based on an established working relationship and a track record of successful project delivery. The solution needed to cover all civil works as well as the full barrier installation at both entrance and exit, and had to be completed entirely within the Easter holiday period to avoid any disruption to school operations.

The Solution
St Mary’s and Scoil Chriost Ri schools, part of the PPP Project Group managed by Sodexo, shared a common car park that faced significant challenges regarding the control of access by unauthorised vehicles. The existing manual barrier at the car park entrance was not in use, and there was no barrier at the exit, which further complicated the situation.
Given their longstanding relationship and successful history of collaboration, Sodexo has repeatedly selected Electro Automation for multiple projects. For this particular project, Electro Automation was chosen to handle all civil works, including trenching, ducting, and reinstating, as well as the electrical works and installation of barriers in an all-inclusive package. The work was required to be completed within the Easter holidays to minimise disruption.
For the entrance barrier system, we installed two Bionik 6 barriers and a Rosslare Keypad. It was crucial for the client that Electro managed all aspects of the project beyond just the barrier installation. The new barriers installed by Electro Automation have significantly improved security and user experience for users of the car park. Staff members can conveniently access the campus using their access fobs, which enhances both access control and security.

The Result
Electro Automation delivered an all-inclusive package covering civil works and automated barrier installation at both the entrance and exit of the shared car park, completing the full project within the Easter holiday timeframe. The car park is now fully controlled at both points, preventing unauthorised vehicle access and providing the schools with clear accountability over who enters and exits the parking area.
The project was completed without any disruption to school staff, pupils, or the wider PPP facility management operation. The automated barriers operate reliably and require minimal ongoing maintenance, providing Sodexo and the school management teams with a straightforward, cost-effective solution to a persistent access problem.
